About Ginette

I’m a Toronto-based freelance writer, editor and proofreader.

I write from scratch or take complex information written by subject matter experts and rewrite it into concise, jargon-free content that resonates with the intended reader or audience.

I’ve written on a wide variety of topics including the environment, education, health and wellness, immigration, and transportation. I write and/or edit and proofread:

  • Web content
  • Reports, guidebooks, case studies, whitepapers
  • Books/e-books
  • Newsletters
  • Business letters, emails, memos, briefing notes
  • News releases, media materials
  • Presentations and speeches

Editing and proofreading, what’s the difference?

Editing comes first. Depending on the length and complexity of the document, it may go through several edits. Editing looks at things like structure, flow, language, tone, clarity and readability.

Proofreading is the last run-through to catch any remaining misspellings, typos, incorrect punctuation, inconsistencies and formatting errors.

Is English not your first language?

I am qualified to teach English-as-a-second language. My focus is on helping business people and others who have English as their second language with their writing. I can help you structure your document and write in a way that is suitable for the intended reader, whether it’s a formal document like a report or business letter, or whether it’s informal, e.g., a conversational blog.
